Frequently Asked Questions about our Physical Therapy Services
-
We operate as an out of network provider, which allows us to take a full hour for every session to thoroughly evaluate your body, movement patterns, and concerns, and then develop a personalized treatment plan tailored specifically to you. A superbill can be provided upon request for you to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
-
No! Massachusetts is a direct access state, which means you do not need a physician referral or prescription to receive physical therapy services. If you plan to seek insurance reimbursement, we recommend checking with your insurance provider to determine whether a referral is required.

Wear something comfortable and something you can move in
Athletic or workout-style clothing (such as leggings, shorts, t-shirts, or athletic tops) works best so we can properly assess movement and perform exercises if needed.
If we will be looking at a specific area of the body, wearing clothing that allows easy access to that area can also be helpful. Our goal is for you to feel comfortable while allowing us to evaluate movement as clearly as possible.

Functional Dry Needling (FDN) is a technique used by physical therapists to help treat pain, movement limitations, and neuromusculoskeletal conditions. The technique uses thin, solid monofilament needles that gently penetrate the skin and underlying tissues, including muscle and fascia, to help improve function and reduce pain. We offer Functional Dry Needling (FDN) both as part of a physical therapy treatment session or as a stand-alone service when appropriate.
-
During the session, very thin, solid needles are inserted into specific muscles or connective tissue. You may feel a brief muscle twitch, mild cramping, or pressure as the muscle responds. These sensations are normal and often indicate the targeted tissue is responding to treatment. After treatment, it is common to feel mild soreness or heaviness in the area for 24–48 hours, similar to the feeling after a workout. Many people also notice improved mobility, decreased tension, or reduced pain following treatment. Dry needling is always performed thoughtfully and with your comfort in mind, and we will explain the process and answer any questions before beginning.
